Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022

Settle Town Council would like to express the deep sadness of Council members and staff on hearing the announcement of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

Published: 9 September 2022

This sorrow will be felt across Settle, and we send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family.

The flag was flown at half-mast on announcement of the sad news and will continue to be flown at half-mast until after the funeral, apart from on Saturday for the proclamation of the new King, Charles III when the flag will be flown at full mast for 24 hours.

Settle Parish Church is open from 10-4 p.m. each day. A special space has been set aside for prayer, the lighting of candles and a book of condolence is available until the day after the funeral.

An online book of condolence is available via Buckingham Palace’s website at

If members of the public wish to place floral tributes, they can do so in the Settle Community Garden of Rest adjacent to the Settle Parish Church graveyard.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all

Councillor Debi Rymer – Town Mayor
